July 15 -- 28
My beloved teacher, Dr. Pammel:
Thank you so much for your letter. The paper has arrived also.
The article has a strange effect upon me I have read it twice and shall continue until I see if this strange feeling passes away.
The way it is written is truly fascinating just as all of your articles are, but somehow this article has an appeal for style, interest etc. that none of the rest have.
This is the strange part, as I sit and read I become absorbingly interested in the story, forgetting all the time that you are talking about me.
It seems so utterly impossible for me to even get within hailing distance of all of these beautiful things you have said that I say to myself, surely Dr. Pammel cannot be talking about me and I therefore loose
