e~merican Society of Andrology Robert A. Schmidt Business Manager 309 W. Clark SI. Champaign, IL 61820 (217) 356-3182 FAX (217) 398-4119 1991 Post Graduate Course, April 27 1991 Annual Meeting, April 28-30 Montreal, Ontario June 26, 1990 TO: Members of the Executive Committee FROM: Howard R, Nankin, M.D., president~ RE: Update The responses regarding having our Business Office handle the pre-registration for 1991 were in support of that idea. There was only one vote suggesting some reservations, but the remaining nine votes were strongly in support of having preregistrations performed by the Business Office. I have been in touch with Bob Schmidt, our Business Manager, and he will charge us $3.00 per registrant to perform those services. It will include making a name tag, putting together an envelope on each registrant, incorporating certain items (for example, a banquet ticket) in the envelope . He will update Bernard Robaire at weekly intervals regarding the registration progress. The 1991 Program has been finalized. The last speaker for the PG Course has been identified, and it looks like a good program, We are working out the details with Bernard Robaire regarding the overlap with the Testis Workshop. Such things as format for the booklet have been finalized. Bernard will clear with the New York Academy of Science that the same manuscript that they will publish will be published in our PG Syllabus. The PG speakers will give 45-minute talks. The add-on second postgraduate course is very complete, and includes experts in a variety of disciplines. Ron Lewis has gotten good responses from contacted potential participants. They will each write a manuscript and this will be published in Journal of Andro1ogy. We are pursuing several different approaches to help cover the cost. Ron has gotten commitments from pharmaceutical companies and that should cover virtually all of our potential expenses; however, we are also attempting to work out a deal with Lippincott, whereby we might also publish those proceedings as a monograph, and perhaps share the sales proceeds, to use those funds to cover the costs. We do not have the final figures for the net profit for the 1990 Meeting. My best estimate is that the Society made $16,000-$17,000 here in Columbia. Our rough expenses included a total hotel bill, including all of the hotel expenses of about $20,300, our speaker expenses were about $9,000, and other incidental expenses ran about $3,100. According to our figures, we took in a total of $49,900. Therefore, I PRESIDENT Howard R. Nankin, M.D. Department of Medicine University of South Carolina School of Med., Admin. Bldg.
