Fellow Citizens,
I am glad all
the year round that I am an
American citizen. I rejoiced
when my dawning mind first
grasped the fact of my citi-
zenship and I have been glad
of it ever since. And now in
the broad swing and sweep
of the national jubilee, I am
gladder than ever that God
in His good providence did
not appoint me to be a Span-
iard or a Mexican or a Turk
or a Hottentot. Nay I will go
farther than this and say
