June 16, 1939 Called at office at 11:00 a.m •• having been sent to me by Mr. Valentini. He has followed most of Inter-American RighwatY through Central America and now intends to go from the Canal Zone to Dabeiba. Colombia. He leaves New York by Grace Line June 23, expects to arrive at Panama July 3, and will undertake to follow the Cord. de San BIas t o ColomMa and cross to Rio Sucio, go up the river to Dabeiba' and so to Medellin. I referred him to Messrs. McKim, Haskins, and. Prof, Neumann, and urged tha t he not attempt the trip alone as he plans. E. W. I urge you to discourage him from this mad adventure. If. however, he will no t be di scouraged and persists in his announced intention to undertake this journey, will you please give him such advice and assistance as you reasonably can. He carries with him a camera and. approximately 1,000 feet of kodachrome film , which he will develop for me if he comes out.
