This bas relief panel is over the second floor end window of the original library building. This and other panels on the east front of the building were designed by Nellie Verne Walker. The carving was executed by J.G. Zimmerman.
Some men are working to clear the west lawn for the building of the library as other people observe the work from a distance. The Armory, Davidson Hall, and Gilman Hall are in the background. Several model T's are parked along the street.
Work continues on the construction of the original library building. Construction materials are laying around the future east entrance to the building. A portion of Gilman Hall can be seen on the right.
