Description	A May Party, demonstrating differing dress standards for different generations. The dress on the far left shows a wide neckline with lace trim, a large shawl edged with ruffles; a full, flounced skirt; and a wide brimmed hat with lace hanging from the edge of the brim and tied with ribbons. The older woman is seated and is wearing a dress decorated with bows that has a high collar; long, full sleeves with contrasting undersleeves, gloves, a full skirt, and a lace trimmed bonnet. The young girl in center is wearing a dress with a pleated bodice trimmed in lace around the square neckline; short, puffed sleeves; and a full skirt. The woman on the far right has a dress with 3/4 length sleeves, a full flounced skirt, and a wrap that has ruffled edges and a large bow in back. Her hair is pulled back and decorated with rosettes and ribbons. (published for Godey's)
