This is to say that I have received the copy of your splendid book. I have heard of it many times, and expected some thing unusually good; but I confess that I was not prepared for the agreeable surprise. It is indeed a monumental work, and the more I study it, the more impressed I am with its value; and coming from my beloved Prof. Pammel, it is all the more a pleasure to me.
