Upon my return, I found your good letter awaiting me. I am now in possession of the medal. It is indeed a beautiful thing. Sorry that you were away and did not get my letter in time, although Mr. Sutton was present.
I am sure you will be interested in the letter-head that I am enclosing. Mr. Hern of Montgomery, tendered his congratulations just before I left. I expect him to be here before very long. He mentioned you so very pleasantly.
